WHAT IS CEREBRAL PALSY?
This term is used to describe the loss or impairment of motor skills caused by brain damage. The brain damage that leads to CP may be the result of an injury or abnormal development before birth, during birth, soon after birth or during the early years of a child’s life when the brain is still developing. The degree of disability ranges from loss of muscle control and motor skills to speech and sight impairments. Cerebral palsy is not curable but the right kind of care can improve a person’s capabilities and help them enjoy a better quality of life.
